Icelandic Wool
for Sale

Icelandic sheep have a dual coat which consists of tog and thel.  Thel is the soft undercoat that averages 2"- 3" long, while tog is the courser outer coat that can grow up to 18" long.  The log tog coat with its lanolin provides rain protection. Tog is true wool not a kemp or guard hair.  The soft thel coat keeps the sheep warm.

Icelandic sheep have a natural wool break.  Some harvest the wool during this time by plucking the wool that is falling off the sheep.  We choose to shear our sheep before their wool break.  Thel can have a micron measure of 19 - 22.
